Martinez: One man dead following alleged home invasion

A man suspected of invading a home in Martinez early Saturday morning is dead, according to police.

The incident happened around 4:46 a.m. when officers responded to Hale Court on a report of someone heard yelling, “intruder,” according to the Martinez Police Department.

Upon arrival, officers contacted a resident who reported that a male adult he knew had entered the resident’s home without permission and attacked him.

The alleged intruder sustained significant injuries and was transported to a local trauma hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, the department said. No details on the injuries were released.

The resident is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, The names of the parties involved are being withheld pending further investigation, according to the department.
