BART’s red line service between Richmond and Oakland’s MacArthur station was not available, nor was the service on its orange line between the Richmond and Berryessa stations.
The orange line began running again about 6 a.m., according to social media posts from BART. It was not known how long the red line would remain down but the shutdown was expected to be lengthy.
Crews were working to repair the problem, according to BART.
Richmond riders were told they should seek other means to get to the MacArthur station.
The yellow line from Antioch to SFO was not affected, nor were the green line (Daly City to Berryessa) or blue line (Daly City to Dublin/Pleasanton).
No other information was available immediately.
