Prospect baseball player Matthew Castillo is the Bay Area News Group’s boys athlete of the week for May 6-11.
In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Castillo finished with 39.66% of the votes. James Lick baseball player Enrique Mendez was second at 24.90%.
Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.
Castillo, a senior third baseman, had six hits and eight RBIs in two wins against Gunderson. He entered this week batting .511 and has an OPS of 1.470 this season.
