Gunn track and field athlete Avery Adelman is the Bay Area News Group’s girls high school athlete of the week for May 6-11.
In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Adelman had 46.62% of the vote to finish ahead of Jasmine Whorley, an Alameda softball player who took second at 36.61%.
Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.
Adelman, a senior, had the top time in the 300-meter hurdles at last weekend’s CCS qualifying meet, running in 44.42. That beat her season-best mark of 44.54 that she set in March.
