Jimenez-Olivera is suspected of punching her newborn baby in the ribs, shoulder, and arms when he cried on several occasions and and roughly pulling his leg when she changed him, officials said. The injuries to the infant included a skull fracture, a fractured knee, a fractured elbow, broken ribs and a fractured arm.

The abuse is suspected to have occurred since the infant was 2 weeks old.

Busto-Rodriguez is suspected of lying to police about how his son was injured.

Both parents have pleaded not guilty and are being held in custody each on a $1 million bond.

Jimenez-Olivera faces up to 42 years in prison if found guilty of all 11 counts, while Busto-Rodriguez could face a maximum of three years in prison.
