EMERYVILLE — Police are looking for a person who they said stabbed somebody without provocation on Tuesday.

In a social media post, Emeryville police said officers were called to the 1500 block of 40th Street about 2:35 p.m. after a report of a stabbing and told that Oakland police already were there. But police said that when Emeryville police officers arrived, officers from Oakland had left, and the victim was gone.
Police said officers reviewed video of the incident that showed a female suspect walked by the victim and cut the victim’s neck with an unknown object. The stabbing caused only a minor physical injury, police said.
According to police, the suspect last was seen going west on 40th Street.
Police said they were working with Oakland police on the case and asked anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 510-596-3700.
