CIF state golf: De La Salle finishes second; Crystal Springs, Alameda have top individual performers among locals

De La Salle came within seven strokes of three-peating as California Interscholastic Federation state team golf champions on Wednesday at San Gabriel Country Club near Pasadena. 

The Spartans shot 12-over 367 to finish as the runner-up behind Torrey Pines-San Diego, which shot 6-over 361 to capture the title.

Crystal Springs Uplands was fifth at 378.

Alameda’s Kailer Stone and Crystal Springs’ Edan Cui were the top individual finishers from the Bay Area News Group coverage area, each shooting 2-under 69 to place fifth.

Cui and Stone each had five birdies. 

De La Salle’s Josh Kim shot 1-under 70 to place ninth and his Spartans teammates Jaden Dumdumaya and Jack Hayden each shot even-par 71 to finish 11th. 

Dumdumaya capped his De La Salle career with a birdie on the last hole. 

Max Emberson of Oaks Christian-Westlake Village won the individual title, shooting 5-under 66.
