Granada baseball player A.J. Martinez is the boys athlete of the week for May 20-25.
In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Martinez finished with 36.96% of the votes. Archbishop Mitty baseball player Nico Rodriguez was second at 33.15%.
Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.
Martinez had the walk-off hit in Granada’s 1-0 win in 14 innings against De La Salle in the North Coast Section Division I finals. Granada broke De La Salle’s 33-game playoff winning streak in a game that stretched across two days.
