Eureka! restaurant chain adds new dishes meant to put a twist on classic comfort foods

With a nod towards classic comfort dishes, Hawthorne-based restaurant chain Eureka! has just launched new menu items and drinks at all its locations.

“This new menu rollout is us going back to our ethos as a restaurant group of focusing on classic comforting foods with a modern twist,” said Alexia Peters, a spokesperson for the chain, which has Bay Area locations in Concord, Mountain View, Berkeley, Santa Clara and Cupertino.

The new items made their debut on May 23 and include starters like the Dorito-Crusted Shishito Peppers. They’re topped with tajin, Parmesan cheese, bourbon smoked honey, green onion and are served with an avocado cilantro dressing for dipping.

“We thought let’s bring back that nostalgia by covering it in Doritos. It’s really crunchy,” she said. But be careful because Shishito peppers can vary in spice level, so your bites could range from mild to hot.

Fans of nachos will want to try the Slow-Roasted Pulled Pork Nachos. They’re served with a cheese blend, refried beans, chipotle and crema plus jalapeños, Fresno Chile, onions, tomatoes and cilantro.

One of the most creative new dishes is the Pastrami Quesadilla. It’s made with pastrami from RC Provisions, which is a well-known Burbank-based deli meat provider that also provides pastrami to the famous Langer’s Deli. It’s mixed with a blend of cheeses, sauerkraut, chipotle sauce, and housemade pickles.

“This is a really fun one. Our chefs were thinking about how to tap into the memory of enjoying a pastrami sandwich with your grandfather,” Peters said.

The pastrami is served between a flour quesadilla, so it’s really cheesy and there’s a hint of spice to it.

The new offerings also include drinks like the bourbon infused Campfire! It’s made with Buffalo Trace Bourbon, graham cracker syrup, Amaro Montenegro, cinnamon, chocolate bitters and it’s topped with a roasted marshmallow.

“It tastes like a smores, but not a sweet,” she said.
